There are always tasks that don't quite fit into any job description.
Herring House, LLC can
assist with those too!
I grew up a Basque Potato Farmer's Daughter in Owyhee County; and my husband likes to say it doesn't get much more Idaho than that.
I have a Broadcast Studies degree from Gonzaga University that I used to start my career in communications as a producer for KTVB Newschannel 7 in Boise. From there I found myself on the political campaign trail which led to a move across the country to Washington, DC to serve as a press secretary in the United States Senate. DC was an experience that changed my life forever, as not only did I meet many talented people who would become colleagues and life-long friends, but it's also where I met a big-city-boy who I eventually convinced to move back to Idaho.
After politics I went to work for a federal contractor writing bid proposals, which provided great experience reading and responding to request for proposals (RFPs), a skill I continue to use today to write grant, event, and bid proposals. I also served as the administrative director, gaining experience with business accounting and human resources. Boise Schools was the next stop on my unconventional career path where I prepared and managed contracts for more than 250 community and private events held in the District's more than fifty facilities every year. I then spent a year in the non-profit sector planning large-scale race events before becoming a private contractor for a well-known event company in Boise planning and executing corporate and non-profit galas, auctions, awards shows, influencer dinners, and concerts.
I've been fortunate to work all over the country in many professional circles, and sometimes I have wondered if any of it would ever make sense in finding what I truly want to do in my professional life. I founded Herring House, LLC, because I realized I'd finally found it in association management. I get to work with small organizations (all non-profits) that have incredibly dedicated memberships and use the communications, administration, and event management skills I've acquired over the years to assist them in reaching their missions. It's meaningful work; it's diverse work; and it's work I'm proud to be doing.
When I'm not association managing or event producing, I'm a wife to that big-city-boy Steve and Mom to two very rambunctious boys Ander and Ryen. On the weekends we can usually be found in my hometown visiting grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins; or home watching Notre Dame football (Go Irish!) or Gonzaga basketball (Go Zags!).
